Breast revision for undesirable results

Revision of breast augmentations with implants to correct undesirable final results.
In experienced hands, breast augmentation can result in fuller, firmer and better proportioned breasts. However, some women mistakenly translate the large number of breast augmentations performed each year to mean that it is a simple operation that can be performed by any surgeon.
However, this is not true and may be one reason why so many revision surgeries are performed today. The best way to have a breast augmentation is to do it right the first time.
There are many variables to consider when undergoing breast augmentation, so it is important that you clearly communicate your specific wishes for the surgery to your surgeon and ensure that your surgeon listens to you and understands exactly what look, shape and size of breasts you would like to achieve with the surgery.
Dr. Biesgen has performed many revision breast surgeries on patients and has found that there are several common variables (problems) observed in revision breast augmentation patients.

Breast revision for undesirable results
In most cases, patients opt for a revision breast augmentation because a previous operation did not produce the desired result.
Patients who wish to have a breast augmentation revision may feel that their breasts are not as firm after breast augmentation.
- "too hard",
- "too soft" or "too limp"
- "too low" or "too high"
- "too far apart" or "too close together"
- or simply "too wrong"
are carried out.
Breast augmentation, like many other cosmetic procedures, is extremely "surgeon-dependent", meaning that much of the final result depends on the skill, judgment and experience of the operating surgeon.
In almost all cases, something can be done during revision breast surgery that can create a more desirable appearance of the breasts.
Exchange of breast implants
Some of the most common surgical revision procedures for breast augmentation include breast implant replacement.
The implant size, shape and / or type), the position of the implant pocket (above or below the pectoral muscle), the breast symmetry / shape or even the height of the breasts can be improved. When replacing the breast implants, the formation of scar tissue (capsular contracture) can also be resolved.
Optimal time for a breast revision
Typically, a revision breast augmentation is performed no less than six months after an initial breast surgery and is generally performed to correct irregularities and/or undesirable end results of a previous breast augmentation surgery.
Revision breast augmentation procedures are even more demanding than an initial breast augmentation as they require more aesthetic finesse in terms of perfecting contour irregularities that were not achieved during the initial surgery.

As a rule, health insurance companies cover the costs of removing the implants and the capsulectomy. The aesthetic part of a breast revision must be paid for by the patient herself.
The exact procedure and the amount of work involved are discussed and defined in detail with the patient during the consultation.
The fee includes the consultation, use of the operating room and materials, anesthesia, implant, as well as the fee for the procedure and aftercare. The cost is to be understood as a flat rate per case and must be paid in advance.
